The Odisha State Commission for Women came into existence in the year 1993 by virtue of Panchayati Raj Department Resolution No. 11399 dated 30.11.1992. The Odisha State Commission for Women Rules 2006 which came into force w.e.f. 26th December, 2006 aims at protecting, preserving and safeguarding the rights and interest of women and dealing with atrocities on and offences against women in the State of Odisha. The State Government nominates the Chairperson and the Members by subsequent resolutions from time to time.
(a) The Commission aims to protect and safeguard the interests and dignity of women folk in every sphere of life. We, in partnership with the government, work for the promotion and fulfillment of women's human rights and to enable women and men to equally contribute to and benefit from development.
(b) To provide better and sustained education, health facilities, economic, social and political upliftment and to devise a better state policy for women.
Accountability, equality, professionalism, honesty and commitment shall be our modus operandi in pursuing this mission.
We are continuing with the endeavour to stand the women struggling for their due space in the society. This drives us to pursue justice and inclusion. We join women around the state in solidarity for human rights, dignity and equality
